From the recording Children of the Rain
The inspiration for the title for this song came from the dedication page of a wonderful book, My Oregon, by Bob Welch. His words touched me when I read them, I thought they should be part of a song. I put together the verses not long after reading the book, but felt there was more to it, so I paused and waited.
Eight years went by. Then, one winter’s day, the unusual melody for the song’s bridge showed up, the words followed and the song was complete.
Heartfelt thanks to my dear friend Debra Harrow for the beautiful artwork featured in the video.
Lyrics
Children of the Rain
Love it when the sun comes out
Children of the sky
Love it when the sun comes out
Melancholy clouds, try to hide the blue
They can’t stop the sun from shining through
Children of the World
Love it when the sun comes out
Sudden thunderstorms, may break the sky in two
Don’t let them stop your dreams from coming true
Children of the World
Love it when the sun comes out
